Religion is the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power especially a god. By this definition, we can say religion has been in Africa for over the centuries. Africa’s problem is not a religion because they had their own belief and way of worship before the Europeans brought Christianity to Africa.
The PanAfricanist always argue that religion is Africa’s problem but disagree with that. In my opinion, I believe it’s our mindset and the way we are brought up as Africans.
The question is, how is our mindset the problem? How is our mindset affecting our development? How can we change our mindset?
We are brought up not to question anything even if it doesn’t sound right. this has eaten into us that we cant question our leaders of their wrongdoings and demand accountability which is affecting the continent’s development. we can change our mindset by first accepting our wrongs and work towards it.
Africa’s problem is also how fixed our mindset is, which prevents us from growing as a continent.
As Africans, we strongly believe that questioning and demanding accountability is total disrespect. Our minds are fixed With these beliefs that, leaders are allowed to do whatever they want and are not held accountable for their actions. How is our mindset fixed? it simply because we object to change. Change is essential for growth, we need it for development.
Why is mindset essential for our development as a continent.
A positive mindset is essential for our development because it frames our self-concept. Also, a positive mindset is essential to develop healthy self-esteem
In so our way of thinking will change for growth. And if we have the power for growth, we will be great people able to control our land. And live as free people.
Whiles, we talk of change to our leaders, we the grassroots must change the narrative. We should work on ourselves and move towards a positive change and together we will make a better continent. we will have to be accountable for our actions, ask questions, and be ready to answer them.
So we must be truthful to ourselves and live an exemplary lifestyle for our generation. because that is the only way to change the narrative of our ancestors. Also since our mindset impacts how we make of the world, and how we make sense of ourselves, mindset is a big deal. this will shape our thoughts and habits.
In this way I strongly believe religion is not our biggest problem. All we need is a positive mindset towards growth.
Africa’s problem is not religion but its our mindset. we have to change our mind.
